you can view my tutorial here: Simple CMS Using PHP and FCKEditor - Technology Tips & Tricks

the article is mostly about how to use fckeditor. but there is an updated version of that: CKEditor - WYSIWYG Text and HTML Editor for the Web

basically, for cms, there are 2 parts... 1) for add/edit/delete content and 2) for display ...

all data is stored in database.

    Hi Wongpk,

Yes, Joomla and Wordpress does able to change website content and update anytime, but i think my website requirement is more about enterprise cms and thus need coding a new cms. Actually, i like to build this kind of cms for personal interest only, but i don't know how to start for a beginner like me. Anyone can share more about CMS here? :P

What sort of things do you want to do in your Enterprise CMS which the regular CMS does not have?

    Hi mylinear,

Good question. I'm also not sure regular CMS have or not. Some of my website features included home page, profile, upload video & photos, search for categories and location, etc. Do you know any regular cms that can do this? Which one is better?

Maybe you can look at features for Joomla or WordPress etc and see if they have it. Also, there are normally lots of extra modules you can add on so you can check if what you want is available that way. And you can also use modify or extend the CMS with your own programming.

No need to re-invent the wheel, Joomla is your best bet. Yes you can (and I have done) build a basic CMS with FCK/CK Editor but the free version of this tool is lacking somewhat (no integrated image uploading for example). Jooma does everything you need, a quick trip to google and the phrase "Joomla feature list" will confirm that

Implementation of Joomla couldn't be easier, it's totally plug-and-play and it will be far more stable and secure than anything you build from scratch.

    Hi mylinear,
I personally feel that building a new CMS may needed according to my case.

    Hi Damo8o,
You are right. However, my website may not complete if FCK/CK editor cannot replace the enterprise CMS or no integrated image uploading.

Does anyone here or your friends interested to build a new CMS for my portal website? Due to personal reason, this website development quite urgent now.

Hi wayne, I have just started with joomla, and all the stuff that you need can be found in the joomla module extensions. You just need to learn how to use it though. If you think joomla is not powerful enough, then use drupal. Rewriting a cms just because you don't have time to learn how to use the existing ones are recipe for disaster hehe

    yeah.. joomla is the best..

btw, you got other choice if want develop your own cms.. use the framework that already existed to develop your own.. eg: codeigniter or cakephp, it make your site more stable, secure, fast, flexible, and better..
