Most of those things are already included with CMS based site like Joomla. Not so sure about the game though. Just embed the game or develop the game from scratch?

my choice is joomla. if you know to create a themes, that will be great but if you dont have idea how to create one, suggest to buy one online. joomla got thing that you need on admin side but to add those game, its gonna took a programmer skill to do it. a bit tricky.

price? hmm... joomla(admin) = free, joomla themes = RM500++, spin game and such = no idea - depend on difficulty, upload content = RM200. Total = really no idea

for cms usually i will charge around 1000++ not less than that including template design. using Joomla, a lot of free module/component/plugin you can get, check it here Home - Joomla! Extensions Directory, if need a commercial component, usually the price for the component only about 20-50 USD, so it still cover your cost.

    Cool charges must be fair

    Hey man,

you're not only charging for the time you spend doing stuff for your client. You are considered a skilled person. Not everyone can do what you do so you must somehow put some consulting fee.

This consulting fee should be for your time to manage the project, figuring out who, how, where.. things that your client is not doing.

then comes your hourly rate. Its easier to put like this so client understand what they paying for. and I believe all client in malaysia must understand.

    maybe like this:
    Project consulting fee: RM 1k
    Coding hours: RM 50 X 20 hrs = 1k
    Misc cost: 3rd party joomla components = USD 20 = ~RM 80

    Total: RM 1080.

Don't be afraid. You know, usually clients that ask for discounts are always the worst paymasters man. so you get more headache and stress. if client is good listener, and reasons with you for the project costs, that's good.

    good luck!

I must agree with your statement. As for lily86, you're afraid that you might get overcharged him but in the end, with your experience, knowledge and skills, you need still need to deliver the said product.Web building is time consuming and it should be ethically justified for certain project.

    Dear

After years of working as a corporate slave, I've decided to make the jump and strike out on my own as a freelancer. I already have some people interested in my work, but I'm not really sure how much to charge. Do I set my rate based on what other people are charging? Or how do I come up with the best price to charge?

    Thanks,
