    More if you ask twice!

I'm interested to know too - are these sites normally done by one person, or one web-designer and one artist? Some of the artwork on game sites is fantastic.

Gaming programs are mostly done by project groups.

There will be people who come out with ideas, storybook, game strategies, etc.

And there will be another group involved in design work, and another group who is master at programming.

So it's not a one man show!

Oh yes. Thanks! Maybe I'm overlooking the obvious: if you can create an online game, with all the design and artwork that entails, a website for it probably isn't that hard...

Cost is depend on the project difficulties, for example, game like Ragnarok, the cost would be RM100k at starting, preparing staff and server would be more expenses if placed more.

I agree. It ain't a one man show. Usually, there are whole companies behind such Online-Gaming websites. They have teams, and many have their own servers.

You may also mean to ask about websites for games fan, they have information about games/releases/cheats...etc. These kind of websites are simple. They are like any community based website, just like this forum. You can use any free open source CMS such as Joomla to create those kind of websites.

    I hope I was helpful

    with regards

hey hey...cant help myself to not replying in here...

gaming site huh... I've worked in gaming industry for around 4 years..as their multimedia designer. 2 companies...first one is the company that iamfreelancer have pointed out : intro (but im not designing this one, because I am not with them anymore)

what I can show some of a game website that I have done (that sill being used) as listed below but bear in mind, most of it the base design is mind, but with all those weird positioned banners and stuff isnt done by me since I'm not maintaining the site anymore and the site been passed to someone else to do the updates :

    - RISK YOUR LIFE Part 2 : Incomplete Union (stop maintaining since nov 2006)
    - www.CUBIZONE.com (stop maintaining since dec 2007)
    - Welcome to Perfect World (stop maintaining since dec 2007)
    - and few others more...

I cant reveal other infos that's too PnC but I can say, yes they have teams BUT not for multimedia team. Usually they'll just need 1 person only...well some companies hire 2 or 3. but so far when I was with them, they put a very good use of me alone (until cannot tahan already...hahaha). They have more programmers and IT tech staffs because priority that MOST of the gaming company put is on their servers functionality, database security, player's info security and marketing & promotions strategy. Design, well...so far from our talks in circles of designers in this industry, most of us agree we are just an additional aspects or something like a sidekicks.

I agree. It ain't a one man show. Usually, there are whole companies behind such Online-Gaming websites. They have teams, and many have their own servers.
yes it does. it aint one man show for the whole. BUT most of the time, one man show for the creative part. im talking based on experience, not assumptions and yes, they have their own servers.

do you know how much is the price to do this kind of website
hmm.. if you're charging from the eye of freelancer, I cant really tell but as a freelancer and their former designer, i could say that it's basically around the same of other type of website...EXCEPT, mostly their pages have a lot more. So if you;re lucky enough to get any freelance project from any gaming company for their gamesite (but mostly they have their inhouse but who knows ur luck), my advice : charge them by pages instead. you'll gain more, better if you charge for maintenance too.. they always have frequent updates.

heh... that's it... hope it answers your doubt.
