    Lightbulb Web Browser speed comparisons

Wanna know various web browser speed?
Read the below comparison results that provide details.

So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for Windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features.

On Linux, Konqueror is the fastest for starting and viewing basic pages on KDE, but as soon as script or images are involved, or you want to use the back or forward buttons, or if you use Gnome, Opera is a faster choice, even though on KDE it will take a few seconds longer to start. Mozilla and Firefox give an overall good performance, but their script, cache handling and image-based page speed still cannot compare with Opera.

On Mac OS X, Opera and Safari are both very fast, with Safari 2 being faster at starting and rendering CSS, but with Opera still being distinguishably faster for rendering tables, scripting and history (especially compared with the much slower Safari 1.2). Camino 0.8 is fast to start, but then it joins its sisters Mozilla and Firefox further down the list. Neither Mozilla, Firefox nor IE perform very well on Mac, being generally slower than on other operating systems.

On Mac OS 9, no single browser stands out as the fastest. In fact, my condolences to anyone who has to use one of them, they all perform badly.

yes sure google Chrome is the best browser, when i first downloaded it, my internet was running at a lighting speed, i even

    checked my speed
IP Details.com : Internet Speed test
and it was normal too, hitherto i used firefox which chocked my browsing capabilities .
But the only one advantage with firefox is that it has more add ons, which makes things much easier

I get pretty much the same results from my HTTP Redirect timer at spider.my:

My Spider - HTTP Ping (Redirect round-trip timer)

Chromium and Opera at the top, Firefox a little way behind. The difference is more visible on the development server on my desk than it is to spider.my's server in the USA, but it's still visible in the Hall Of Fame (link after you complete your redirect timings). The page is a bit rough, but I think the stats are right. Maybe one day I'll get round to putting a world map and some per-browser stats on it!

Comparing the speed of redirect handling might tell you something about how 'responsive' a browser 'feels'. In my tests, I rarely get a reliable difference of more than 20ms or so. If you're not on some fairly outrageous drugs, I doubt you'd notice it. But maybe if you load a fat page, the repeated round-trips to the server for more resources (stylesheets, scripts, images, etc) would all add up.

Do me a favour? If you try out the page, select 9 (NINE) redirects - I shouldn't offer the smaller numbers, they just allow you to get less reliable results! On Streamyx, I rarely get below 500ms for the round-trip, so expect at least a 5-second delay between starting and finishing the test. If you're on a mobile Internet connection, expect the test to take anything up to 20 seconds or so.
