Hi everyone.
Let's make a list of different ways we use to get quality links from other sites to ours.
In other words, what are the common practices in link building?
Looking forward to hearing from as many of you as possible.

For one, participate in various high-ranking blogs and forums and leave your tahi behind, LOL (tahi = website address). I guess one link per website is enough because I read somewhere that Google doesn't bother even if you have a million links from the same website.
Leaving your mark (URL) on popular websites is the easiest one - just look for blogs, forums, directories that allow posting.
Paid advertising, if you advertise in the right place, will bring a lot of traffic, but it only keeps coming as long as you keep paying!
Anybody seen A Free Online Advertising Network | Free Blog Advertising | AdGridwork.com It's an ad exchange - the site owners say they don't know how to make money out of it, so maybe it won't be available forever...
it would be consider your site are listed in many
diffrent categories / directories..
how probably be in regional address
is depend on the address at the site
if you have a blog.. it could be in blog directories
somehow, somewhere..
Does it have the character for quality directories ?
"nofollow' links are far from useless to search engines, or to websites - read the wikipedia article
nofollow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's a badly named link attribute, patented by Google employees, but used to varying extents by some of the other search majors. What it means is "exclude link from ranking algorithm". The search engines may still follow (which is what makes it badly named, in my mind) the link, to discover new content. So spamming links to your blog articles may be a good way to get the search engines to discover your new content. Not that any of us would do such a thing, of course.
WMM uses nofollow on its pages, but maybe vBulletin's authors are confused? If you look at the Page Source for this page (you do this all the time, of course!) you can see "nofollow" used for lots of internal links (not the ones in our sigs or posts) - that's completely redundant. According to the wikipedia article, if you really want "don't follow this link" functionality, you need a 'nofollow' value in your robots html META element.
Even if robots don't follow them nor search engines rank them, links are still good if they bring visitors. Everybody watch their stats to see which links bring the most visitors?
I agree with the word quality. Actually, we should stick to this feature while looking for links from other websites. I mean we've got to get quality links from other sites, not just any link from any sites.
To me quality links are the ones from the websites that:
- publish the content similar to ours.
- are authority websites.
- are related geographically to the location where our local online business is (if local).
- have lots of relevant traffic.
- allow us to use our anchor text in our backlinks.
- allow us to set our tags or keywords for the content we syndicate to them.
- have top search engine position for the keywords relevant to our website's category or industry.
This is what I remember now, but authority sites and relevancy are the most important ones.
Please add to this list if you remember other features differentiating a quality linking website from others.

- Linkbait
- Social (bookmark) sites
- Dofollow blogs
- Use Google Alerts on keywords that relate to your own niche (and write linkbait or exchange links)
Most of all, write unique content, and be unique....links will follow you around![]()
Ow...forgot this one
If your content tends to get 'borrowed', make sure to use absolute url's in your anchors and a title. This way, when people 'borrow' your content, they repay at least with some incoming links. Same goes for pictures (full url + great alt).
Hi.
1. Do you mean the content in our websites or in other websites should have absolute URLs?
2. Talking about anchor text, do you mean the links at author biography in an article we submit to other websites or within the article body in our websites?
3. What do you mean by great alt? Do you mean that our alt tags should also have absolute URLs?
Explaining those points help our friends understand and some learn the points more easily. I'll appreciate it if you could clarify on them a bit more.
Thanks.![]()

Thank you Houben 77 for sharing your ideas about link building. As blogging had already been mentioned in a previous post and I'd mentioned social media in the last post, I can only add "link baiting" to the list. Google Adwords is certainly a method for finding good keywords for writing link-attracting content (the same as link baiting).
So, now our list grows as below thank to your thoughts: (I've also added one item to it at the end)
1. creating links from inside other blogs & forums
2. submitting our website to directories
3. paying for advertisements
4. exchanging ads
5. Link Baiting via keyword-rich content
6. Submitting content to article directories
Great. Let's think on this topic more as quality link building plays a very important role in our search engine rankings.![]()
