    How can they 'afford' this?

    Hello all.

I was surfing the 'local' hosting companies (Being a kay poh) and saw this offering. Can be true for such a price quoted? No name i will mention but i want the opinions.

FREE 1 Domain Name (New Domain Only - .com, .net, .org)
5 GB Web Space inclusive of E-Mail Space
    50 GB Monthly Data Transfer
Netmyne Kuala Lumpur Bandwidth / Datacenter
Daily 24 x 7 Support via Ticketing System
Host 5 Domain Add-ons (Sharing Web Space)
Host 5 Domain Parking (Forwarding Features)
    CPanel Control Panel + Web-Mail
Fantastico 50+ Free Scripts Library (See Below)
    Unlimited POP3 E-Mail Accounts
    Unlimited FTP Accounts
    Unlimited Sub-Domains
    Unlimited MySQL Databases

    All for 150.00 Ringgits?

I really am wondering...? Can be so cheap? or they getting a really good deal on their servers at Netmyne?

Please tell dude's. I am getting a headache. I am wondering about the 5 GB Web Space inclusive of E-Mail Space and 50 GB Monthly Data Transfer mostly.

    Cheerios.

    Hello there,

It depend on the business structure, policy, target profit of the company.
It is obivious that they do over selling in their server unless they have strong financial foundation to support the offering.

What company offering that package ?

    Thank you,

They may eventually adjusting the package once their customer increases. or probably adjusting the package price the next year. happen to my web host.
and you will never know their level of service until u signup with them.

I agree with fivio. It still goes back to overselling.

Like what we always say, just go for what you can afford and is reasonable. Don't be greedy, that will do

    Thanks.

    Hello,

If you go with overselling company, you will become like site5.com

The company is a extreme reputable company in USA. It have around 200,000 customers around the world. However, since they do overselling (look at their package), their support drop and their customer satisfaction are not 100% anymore, server down, etc.

For your information, Site5.com is larger than Exabytes. They have 200 + servers (http://www.site5.com/support/uptime.php). So imagine, such large company can drop the ball.

You can find out more in webhostingtalk.com, search for Site5

    That is a good example

    Thank you,

I think in Site5's mainpage they do mention it is a "ridiculous web hosting deal"

From a client's point of view, it is always the best to get the cheapest with the largest space possible. However, I have to agree with fivio. Overselling is bad and it is not healthy for the server.

    Thanks.

As what it has been mentioned, over selling is the answer..But, if you check/survey overseas hosting providers, overselling is a norm in hosting industry now.

    Just my 2 cents.

If you look properly, many big webhosting company in Malaysia is overselling. A few GB for under RM200 is really a catch for a customer, but do you really use it all?

The plan that you post here, should be the webhost company that got into a big problem a few month ago, right?
    Hint, from East Malaysia.

It is because the hardware price and avaibility are much more cheaper than Malaysia. Moreover, in one state they have like 50 datacenter. So, go figure how much datacenter they have. And all of it must compete with each other yet have superb quality.

Compared to Malaysia, we are stuck with Jaring, TMNET, aims (still use TMNET bandwitdh) etc. So they give hgh prices.

By the way, their 2 GB plan or 1 GB if following the US market standard is USD 5 - USD 8 monthly which equal to RM 220 - RM 350 yearly.

Malaysia ? 1GB equal to RM 100. We are the one that overselling

They pay the technician staff at GBP 2.5 = RM 17 per hour. I have one british technician getting that wages. Technical support level 1

If they work full hour is 2,700 ringgit monthly. Our Malaysian webhosting staff is how much ? Be honest.

    ============================

We have trained our customer that the cheaper is better.

Some company = Have 10 customer of 1 GB (RM 100) get RM 1000 yearly.
Soem other company charge higher = 3 customer of 1 GB get Rm 1140.

This is not flaming thread. I just show example.

    ----------------------

By the way, I valued my time at higher rates. Thus overselling is not my choice of business practice.

    Thank you,

    Hello,

The US market standard depends on which company you are referring to. From what I've seen (unless I didn't survey enough ) .. There is another so called US standard that has pricing between USD 3 - USD 5 per month.

I've always seen this phrase.. "It's not the overselling that is the issue, it's the poor management of overselling that is the main concern. "

Just my 2 cents. This post is not intended to offend anyone.

searching for a very good and the best over one for too many long time is wasting your time.

like i found someone before.. he's searching about 6 month for only a cheap and good hosting he want.. and then he only build his website completely after 1 years later! ..

just few research.. just bought and build.. not satisfied = claim money back = change other host.. better than wasting 2 years of time
    again! :
small matter need to be think in other way too
    *perhaps.. in just some case...

    Hello,

You can do that if you only host blog etc.

But when you host your company profile etc. You want your email + data + web to be availble. You can just give the valueble data to just a mere hosting

    It worth the research.

    Thank you,
