Thread: Exabytes - I am VERY Dissapointed

    I started this thread few years ago, and havent been here for so long until today i saw a new reply and i was wondering what have i been posting last time.
    And, i found that my 1st post in this thread is gone...why? coz this website/forum owner is EXABYTES, they are so scared that my post (with proof provided) affected their "GOOOOD" reputation LOL
    Thus, they deleted my post.

    Well, i've been changing my hosting service to ipserverone for 4-5years and so far i am happy with their service,
    My website growing from shared hosting > semi-dedicated hosting > now dedicated server =)
    Whenever i have any problems, they will immediately solve it for me, even i have delayed payment on the monthly server fees, they will not suspend your account ALL OF THE SUDDEN which always been done by EXABYTES.
    They normally will inform u, send u an invoice until you paid the bill =)

    Few months ago, i got several emails from EXABYTES asking me to renew my hosting package, OMFG !! I've not been using their service for few years now they asking me to renew my hosting ???
    They keep spamming my email, until i replied them "Please dun spam me, i tot i've cancelled all my subscriptions under EXABYTES for like 4-5 years!"
    Then they replied me "You have win our reward which is 2 years free hosting bla bla bla..."
    I was thinking, wat??! 2 years free hosting service? but i've cancelled 4 years ago, even that's another extra 2 years free hosting, it's still already expired long time ago right?
    So, i just replied them "Sorry, i dun need your hosting, thank you for not spamming email again."

    And ...
    The Next day...
    They spammed me again with their newsletter and asking me to renew my domain name (Which i've changed the domain name to another hosting company) ==
    THIS IS THE WAY HOW EXABYTES MARKETS THEIR HOSTING!
    AND WHEN U'VE SUBSCRIBED TO THEIR HOSTING, U WILL GET INTO ALOT OF TROUBLES.

    - QUICK SUPPORT WITH ALL TEMPLATE REPLIES, NEVER SOLVE PROBLEMS
    - ONE PROBLEM/BUG BEING HANDLED BY 4-5 DIFFERENT SUPPORT STAFFS, AND THE PROBLEM IS THROWING FROM ONE TO ANOTHER! NEVER SOLVED.
    - EVERYTIME U CREATED A SUPPORT TICKET, THEY WILL KEEP ASKING YOU FOR THE SAME QUESTION
    - THEY LIKE TO SUSPEND YOUR ACCOUNT SAYING THAT YOUR WEBSITE WAS OVERLOADING THEIR SERVER, CPU USAGE TOO MUCH ! INFACT U'RE JUST HAVING LIKE 2-3 PPLS ONLINE CONCURRENTLY! (THEY WONT PROVIDE PROOF)
    - THEY SUSPENDED YOUR HOSTING ACCOUNT BECOZ THEY WANT YOU TO UPGRADE TO SO CALLED "PREMIUM ACCOUNT" WHICH IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE.
    - THEY SUSPENDED YOUR HOSTING WHENEVER THEY WANT YOU TO UPGRADE YOUR HOSTING PACKAGE WITHOUT INFORMING, SO U WILL WAKE UP AT THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND OUT THAT YOUR USERS ALREADY BEEN COMPLAINING FOR 12 HOURS ALREADY WHEN THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE WEBSITE.
    - SUSPECTING THAT THEY HAVE ALOT OF STAFFS WHO PRETENDING AS A FORUM-ER HERE AND POSTING "OMG, EXABYTES IS GOOD, I AM SO SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES" TO LURE YOU SUBSCRIBING !
    - THEY JUST GOOD IN MARKETING, BAD IN SERVICE AND SUPPORT, THEY CLAIMING THAT 99% UP-TIME BUT YOU WILL FEEL YOUR WEBSITE SPEED IS SLOW LIKE HELL DUE TO THEIR POOR SERVER ==

    This is what i experienced when using EXABYTES service, so...believe it or not, it's all up to you.

    P/S: i bet my post will be deleted soon due to they are so scared ppl exposing their bad, but i dun bother that, coz i am not going to come back here anymore, posting this is to prevent anyone from getting scammed by the poor service provider.

    2. Since u mentioned you have not using Exabytes service for 4-5 years, I assume all the bad experience posted were based on 4-5 years ago?

    While Bizo's problems may be from 4-5 years ago, mine is quite recent and Exabytes quality of service is going downhill, IMHO.

    From Nov 16 - Nov 26 : 10 days (After 10 days the problem still not being solved!)


    I didn't keep all the emails , some already deleted, so it's not complete...
    Well, we assume that there's not much big problem after 2 months (Infact there's some problems every week! )


    31st January .... Server NOT ACCESSIBLE, action taken : send AUP email and call the owner regarding this issue.

    I am really getting pissed-off and thus i wrote to their so called "CEO" and here's the stupid template reply he given...
    look at the subject, my email sending out doesn't kept in my inbox, so cant get it back for u guys as reference, but it's all about complaining their server slow, server down, support slow, causing my database lost, keep changing different persons to solve 1 problem...and so on.

    I can truly understand your frustration and how you feel. Please do allow me to provide some information to you regarding the incidnets hapened on http://www.xxxx.com.

    1. Base on our server up time report, we do achived a 99.5768% uptime record for the server where http://www.xxxx.com is hosted on.

    2. In order to provide around the clock (24xc7) Techncial Assistance to our valued clients, our Technical Support Team is working on shitf rotating basis. We have 3 shifts a day and each Systen Engineer in Techncial Support Team will work 1 week morning shift, change to 1 week afternoon shift and follow by 1 week night shift before changing back to morning shift again. That means, we will have different people response to you depends on when we received your support request or reply. Furthermore, we have total of 16 systems engineers at the moment working in Support Team, anyone who is available will response immediately to the support ticket we received so that our clients do not have to wait for long hours until they get a reply.

    We are using a web based Helpdesk Ticketing systems to record all the incoming support emails sent from our clients and our team will reply via the Helpdesk. The reply is recorded and our clients will receive a copy of our reply in email. All the issues, tickets histories and replies by both clients and Exabytes team are recorded and we can refer back to the history or last replies by clients / Exabytes Team easily.

    I aplogize if that makes you missunderstood that we are passing the problems from one to another.

    3. The webmail issue appears to be a known bugs in cPanel. This haveb been fixed as I can see from your ticket history. Sometimes when cPanel was upgraded, it will break the settings on webmail. We have reported this to the developer of cPanel.

    4. Do you have a ticket ID which is referring to the MYSQL corrupted issue? We do have backups available, if you let us know immediately, we can help you restore back your MYSQL database.

    5. From the ticket history, the 500 internal error was due to our firewall had blocked some of the http request to your site. Further investigation base on our logs, shows that the error was due to the request for accesing certain URL on your forum was blocked by our firewall rules which matched certain PHP Injection patterns.

    I have attched a copy of the log together with this email for your refference.

    As a side note,

    Base on the content you currently hosting on, I afraid our normal shared hosting plans can't handle your web site traffic well. Forums and portals and very server resources intensive. As your traffic grows, that will also cause our server to become instable and that will affect your web site performance. Besides that, clients hosted on the same servers are affected as well.

    From our server load history, xxxx.com is currently the top 3 busiest site on that server.

    For clients running a web portal or forums, we highly recommend them to change to our Semi-Dedicated Server hosting Plan which we will host only 5 accounts per server. This will ensure the high stability and performance of your web site.

    He claiming that my website is HIGH-LOAD and my forum is actually just having maximum of 20 concurrent connection
    ( i can track my concurrent visitors to my website using session, so, i know my own traffic wont be alot )
    If they are saying that my website overloading their server which only having 2 possibilities
    1. They LIE
    2. Their Server poor, cant even support 20 concurrent connections.

    That's not all... one month later after this email...
    Hotlinking protection not working, and it causing my website's bandwidth being used by others....and overloading my bandwidth causing my hosting being SUSPENT, who's fault? my fault???

    Well, we assume that there's not much big problem after 2 months (Infact there's some problems every week! )

    I can truly understand your frustration and how you feel. Please do allow me to provide some information to you regarding the incidnets hapened on http://www.xxxx.com.

    1. Base on our server up time report, we do achived a 99.5768% uptime record for the server where http://www.xxxx.com is hosted on.

    2. In order to provide around the clock (24xc7) Techncial Assistance to our valued clients, our Technical Support Team is working on shitf rotating basis. We have 3 shifts a day and each Systen Engineer in Techncial Support Team will work 1 week morning shift, change to 1 week afternoon shift and follow by 1 week night shift before changing back to morning shift again. That means, we will have different people response to you depends on when we received your support request or reply. Furthermore, we have total of 16 systems engineers at the moment working in Support Team, anyone who is available will response immediately to the support ticket we received so that our clients do not have to wait for long hours until they get a reply.

    We are using a web based Helpdesk Ticketing systems to record all the incoming support emails sent from our clients and our team will reply via the Helpdesk. The reply is recorded and our clients will receive a copy of our reply in email. All the issues, tickets histories and replies by both clients and Exabytes team are recorded and we can refer back to the history or last replies by clients / Exabytes Team easily.

    I aplogize if that makes you missunderstood that we are passing the problems from one to another.

    3. The webmail issue appears to be a known bugs in cPanel. This haveb been fixed as I can see from your ticket history. Sometimes when cPanel was upgraded, it will break the settings on webmail. We have reported this to the developer of cPanel.

    4. Do you have a ticket ID which is referring to the MYSQL corrupted issue? We do have backups available, if you let us know immediately, we can help you restore back your MYSQL database.

    5. From the ticket history, the 500 internal error was due to our firewall had blocked some of the http request to your site. Further investigation base on our logs, shows that the error was due to the request for accesing certain URL on your forum was blocked by our firewall rules which matched certain PHP Injection patterns.

    I have attched a copy of the log together with this email for your refference.

    As a side note,

    Base on the content you currently hosting on, I afraid our normal shared hosting plans can't handle your web site traffic well. Forums and portals and very server resources intensive. As your traffic grows, that will also cause our server to become instable and that will affect your web site performance. Besides that, clients hosted on the same servers are affected as well.

    There's too much problems when i was using their hosting, and this really torturing, coz u have to worry everyday everynight, whether ur website will going to be DOWN in the next day, next hour, next minute or even next second.
    So...finally i choose to migrate my forum to another hosting company, and this later proving that i've made a good choice.

    Ok. 3 hours to solve the problem looks reasonable but I had the problem 12 hours earlier. Also for that 12 hours all my source code was visiable as TEXT and downloadable.

    I accept that perhaps I reported it late and Exabyte had no idea about it until I reported it.

    Also the domain expiring and renewing was totally not my fault as I had paid earlier but still it expired and resulted in my subdomains not working for more than 24 hours. The explanation given was the domain was going through a renewal process.

    I admit that Exabytes is not perfect, but we have improved a lot and will continue to do so.

    My site down - common problem

    I disagree from my recent experience with Exabyte. My website has been having more short downtimes than ever before. Every complaint that I make is ineffectual as by the time I say my site is down it is up again. Support will point to other factors such as resetting my router or using a different connection to check. I have. I use proxy servers like hidemyass.com and others and confirm my site is inaccessible but only for that few minutes. Most of the time I will not dare to complain as support has many times shut down my site blaming it for congestion when I am convinced my visitors and CPU usage cannot be that high - I'm using WP-supercache (with CDN support) for my wordpress blog by the way. So its better I just tolerate the intermitten but frequent downtimes.

    Just now my blog at blog.gilachess.com was down for a few minutes. It's a common occurence but I'm too tired to complain to support anymore.
