How many Malaysian hosting providers have you been with? How many other countries hosting providers have you been with? What is the basis you used to make the comparisons? Please share with us your experiences.

The Hyperspin results seems doubtful and bias. They reported Exabytes down for 11day 04hr 15min in Jul 2009. If that's the case we were already out of business already ... LOL

    2009 Jul 57.865% 11day 04hr 15min 274

And I believe the Hyperspin only monitor the webhost's own web server (the server that host the web host web site), that doesn't reflect the overall servers and network uptime of the rest of the web hosts servers.

I have tried few malaysia hostings and disappointed with their services, but I can't ask for refund as for malaysia hosting mostly didn't practice money back guarantee policy. You are easy to get in but get nothing when you get out.

For foreign hosting companies especially US hosting, the money back guarantee is almost a must or else nobody will subscribe your hosting.

Normally I'll check on the hosting review b4 subscribe to any hosting. I ever subscribed to few hostings like *power and A small O***** as these 2 are on some hosting review site top 10 list. They just let me down even their support are ok, but their server is not stable and having down time frequently. Thus I ask for refund, they just ask for a few questions and will pay my money back in full.

I'm now using a few hostings with me and none of them are of malaysia. For Malaysia, many hostings always over promising but cannot deliver. For many years in IT I have dealt with a lot of different hosting companies. Some touted they are having 7/24 tech supports but when u call, the phone just keep engage, and you can have your website down to nowhere, having no choice but only wait for the website to turn back on itself.

One hosting even not allow me to chmod for my own ftp files. Everytime when I want to chmod any files, I have to log a ticket for them to open the right for me. What a waste of time and stupid policy they have as they claimed this is for security purposes.

Last month, I just received another website project. The website was hosted in another Malaysia hosting H***p**2u. While I login into the control panel, almost got fainted as the interface was like the 1st generation panel years ago. I just not able to find any database in there. When I ask them for the database, they said need to add another RM100. This is the first time I heard from hosting as database need to pay extra as most US hosting are giving you at least 25 databases even you are sign up for their most basic hosting package.

When I told them I want to change domain to other hosting, then I guess u know how troublesome and what kind of messes that I faced. After flipping upside down, 2 weeks later only I managed to successfully change the DNS name to new hosting.

Of course I do hope that I can have more confident in Malaysia hosting, but after so many times even with the most reputable hosting as quoted here( I guess you know) that I have tried, I can said I would rather host eslewhere.

The only advantage for hosting in local that I can think about is if your website is mainly focus on local visitors, then you can go for it as you may experienced faster access. But thats just it only advantage.

    hi,
through out my life i've been with a lots of hosts, but the feature u must look for in a host is the Technical and Backsupport they offer, in my experience

The Web Pole.com : Affordable, full service web hosting packages. offers them well and good and it is also a free hosting provider

I strongly disagree. There are Malaysian hosting providers who have a 100 day money back guarantee whereas most US providers have a 30 day money-back. A 100 day money back can only be given if you have confidence in your services and know you wont fail your customers.

Any hosting provider who gives a money back guarantee always refund within the guarantee period if asked for, only the domain name regsitration charge is non-refundable. This is mentioned very clearly in the Terms & Conditions. A responsible web-host will refund if asked for. You have more than a fair share of MY providers who are fair and responsible.

This is another ill-informed opinion. Any webhosting provider worth their salt will have a 24x7x365 technical support, thats the very basic, Its the genesis of a hosting company. Tech support will always be offered for sure through emails and helpdesk 24x7x365. Availability of round-the-clock phone support is something you should check for before sign-up. If this is mandatory for you as a service, you should first enquire before purchase. It is wrong to state that technical support is not 24x7.

One hosting even not allow me to chmod for my own ftp files. Everytime when I want to chmod any files, I have to log a ticket for them to open the right for me. What a waste of time and stupid policy they have as they claimed this is for security purposes.

This again depends on the policies and terms of service offered by the provider. When you sign-up, it is assumed you have read ther TOS (terms of service) and AUP (Acceptable User Policy).

What you have stated in the last part is very very avoidable if you enquire before-hand with your shortlisted providers. Most Malaysian providers give cPanel with linux plans and plesk/DNP/Helm etc with the windows plan. Globally, WHM/cPanel is accepted as the most user friendly control panel. Helm and Plesk are preferred significantly for windows. MS-SQL Databases are expensive and so you have to pay an additional amount for it. MYSQL databases is offered in sizeable numbers by everyone.

Change of DNS and other domains records is not troublesome at all. You just have to equip yourself with DNS hosting / DNS Management; you get full control. If not, then contact the domains team or customer service and request for change of nameservers. The other option is to transfer the domain name itself to your new hosting provider.

I know I come across as patronizing Malaysian providers, the fact of the matter is your observations seemed biased and flirting with accusations which are unfounded.

Best of luck for your endeavours! Cheers!
