Why Bundle Email Hosting?

See, even the forum doesn't has a group for Email Hosting.... Hmm! I have no ideas who came out with this 'great' idea of bundling email when you subscribe to web hosting. Looks like it is free, it not second important, it is the free 100 Plus you get when you pump 50RM Petrol. It is less important, to many... if not, why not Email Hosting on its own???

Web and email are completely two different things. They deserve two separate renewal records. They deserve to be hosted in two different physical servers.

A good web hosting companies doesn't means that they are good in your email. Don't be afraid to ask. Check with your web host, request them to break down to two different services. You CAN (many web host dont tell you this), host email and web with different companies. Yes you can!

Choose a company who can provide you a reliable services with something you can measure and proven. Ask for Report, ask for demo, ask for the uptime reports before you decide.

Yeah, definitely it is ideal to separate web and other services in isolated servers.
But such clustered servers also means more expensive due to the cost of multiple servers per hosting account.
As you know Malaysians always like cheap and big. They like to pay once, got everything. If separate email into another renewal record, guess most will make noise.

Last time, we open a booth for our email hosting services.

Most of the responses are like :

1. Eleh, we can register at Yahoo or Google for FREE.
2. Email suppose to be free right ?
3. I can give you free email if you want (they refer to gmail)

etc etc.

Dedicated email hosting in Malaysia market still low (in end-user market share not corporate). There are many FREE alternative.

I respect 1.com.my business model in term of service redundancy (seperate web, email, mysql). Good luck

yeah.. most hosting companies host web server and email server in the same physical server...

but i see come providers also offer email hosting only.. without web.. but not sure whether they still host the web and email in the same server...

I heard email servers install with SmarterMail is quite good.. they have more functions compared to some web based email application..
