How to split web hosting to include 2 websites

Hi, this might seem like a weird question to ask. I already have a web hosting package which is currently hosting my website.

I would like to purchase another domain and develop another website. Can I use the current web hosting package to host this new website? Or do i need to purchase another web hosting package?

sure, you can use your current hosting to host more than one site. Just use the addon function to add the additional domain.

does anyone know of the consequences of having 2 different CMS in one hosting? will there be problems with processing speed? Bandwidth perhaps?

Numbers should not be an issue as long as your web host can support the overall size and bandwidth. My web hosting allows me to host unlimited number of domains, and it does not matter if you use (and how many number) of cms, blogging platforms and so on as long as the space limit is not exceeded. What you need to do is make a sensible estimate how big is the space and bandwidth it can take up.

    My 2 cent.

Storage/bandwidth won't be much of an issue.... that's y you see webhosting companies giving more and more storage/bandwidth.

You can have a few sites running without problems.

But be careful on the resource usage (CPU cycles, memory etc) .... resource intensive CMS or applications (like Drupal, forums etc) will get u into trouble when your sites become more popular ... as more ppl try to connect at the same time, the shared server need to work much harder to handle all the database connections and queries ...... and your webhoster might complain ..... this is the MOST IMPORTANT limitation and most webhosters won't even tell u upfront .... most of them will just mention this in their TOS, with a bunch of other conditions haha.

So, always read the TOS and make sure you're comfortable with it before committing.

    Talking

saya ada tips untuk host multiple domain dalam satu webhost..
tips ni beguna kalo hosting provider tu wat set limit untuk addon domain

just buatkan satu folder untuk setiap domain..
cam cth kat bawah ni 2 domain..
    myportal.com dan myblog.com
so lam root webspace korang kena ada 2 folder..
    "portal" ngan "blog"

buat satu file .htaccess dan editkan aje mana yang rasa kena edit..
    hehe

    PHP Code:
    RewriteEngine on

    # This is your 1st domain
    # Change yourdomain.com to be your main domain.
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?myportal.com$

    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/portal/

    # Don't change this line.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond
    %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain.
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /portal/$1

    # Change yourdomain.com to be your main domain again.
    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain
    # followed by / then the main file for your site, index.php, index.html, etc.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?myportal.com$
    RewriteRule ^(/)?$ portal/index.php [L]

    # 2nd domain goes here
    # Change yourdomain.com to be your main domain.
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?myblog.com$

    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/blog/

    # Don't change this line.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond
    %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain.
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /blog/$1

    # Change yourdomain.com to be your main domain again.
    # Change 'subfolder' to be the folder you will use for your main domain
    # followed by / then the main file for your site, index.php, index.html, etc.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?myblog.com$
    RewriteRule ^(/)?$ blog/index.php [L
