    Experiences with Malaysian DCs

Can those who have dedicated or colocated servers at the various data centers in Malaysia such as Netmyne, Myloca, Jaring etc please give some feedback on your experiences with the DCs.

For example, how is the level of service and support, how efficient and knowledgeable the technical staff are, how fast does support respond, any connectivity issues, why you chose the DC, any interesting stories about your dealings with the DC or visits to the DC etc,.

Please share the good and the bad.

Maybe this is the wrong forum to post inabout this topic...? I thought there are users here using dedicated servers or colocation services from local DCs and wouldn't mind sharing their experiences.

Broadband? Streamyx? No, don't start on that or it may become the longest thread here...

Mostly confidential stuffs right to share out here.
Anyway why do you want to know?
Are you planning to set up your own data center or planning to get your own dedicated server set up?

You can actually email to them, to check out the stuffs.
They will reply back reports regarding their data center and types of servers and other features stuffs. That depends if you ask the right Q's. when you contact them. I'm sure they will provide you info. esp. if you show interest in biz. dealing wth them. (coz. that's how I got it).

I don't see how user experiences are considered confidential??

I didn't ask for DC layouts or equipment specifications or pricing details etc. I just wanted user feedback with your experiences such as support response times, your opinions on the level of knowledge of the technical staff, your opinion on the service levels and other general experiences and feedback.

Its like asking for feedback on any other various services from current users. Unless of course, the DCs make you sign an agreement not to talk about them in public.

Confidential bcs of the reports of diff. DC's in hand were passed for work purposes and thru management to me/ppl I work wth.

Because if you email and check their support/sales team for those dcs.
they might give u a copy/another version of the copies basically related to where's their server, features, pricing, and also u really hv to test it out yourself to see how good r their support team (either 24/7 or operates office hours).

I tell you my review on Netmyne Brickfield for 4 months
    1) how efficient and knowledgeable the technical staff are?
I can't tell much about it. Never come up a diffucult question for them. They seem to know what happen around in the datacentre.

    2) how fast does support respond?
In netmyme brickfield, there is no true 24x7 staff on the data centre. after office hours, some staff usually on standby. If you try to get some reboot request on the night an it range from 15min to 90min. If you are lucky, some one is already there at night, if not the standy staff will go there and reboot. Everytime I feel bad to call them at night for a reboot. In the end, I invested some remote reboot devices. This will easy my mind and my client for quick reboot. Their call centre are 24x7 and usally pick up the phone within 2 rings.

    3) any connectivity issues
For this 4 month, there is no issue at all. Line is solid stable and I'm very happy about it. Hope will go stay like tat .

    4) Environment
Back then, it hot in the data centre and i have 1 unit of server is overheat. Now, there have install some additional air-cond in the datacentre and everything seem to be fine. But still little warm inside the datacentre.

via-vera, I was not asking for what is in the report that they pass to you. I did not even know there is such a report. I only wanted your experiences dealing with the DCs, like how gethosted has given above.

gethosted , thank you for the feedback. Exactly what I was looking for from user experiences. Strange that it is a little warm in the DC. I always thought that these places were probably like ice cold.

So, there is no human monitoring of servers at the DC 24/7? That is your own responsibility, not the DCs?

Any reason you pick Netmyne Brickfields over eg Netmyne CyberJaya? Is it due to the distance and convenience? Or due to better service etc?

Anyone else willing to share experiences with DCs similar to gethosted ?

Netmyne is renting out rack space, power and bandwidth. Monitoring the server is not their responsibility same as provider for co-location. If you get a dedicated, them maybe they included monitoring service as bundle services.

    Netmyne CyberJaya
I'm hosted there before i shift to Brickfiels. The are cooler is CyberJaya with true 24x7 staff. There is some minor power outage on my rack. I believe is not netmyne problem but my provider has oversell and pull too much power on the DB. Also some hipcup on the bandwidth. Somewhere from 10min to 45min when i was there for 8 months.

Absolutely no "small fire" here with via-vera. Perhaps my post was not initially clear or via-vera thought I was asking for "inside info". No harm done at all.
