Question Local Web Hosting Versus Overseas Web Hosting?

I just want to make a simple survey at here.Do you think Malaysia web hosting company provide better support(or services)and affordable price than overseas web hosting company compare with hostgator, hostmonster, ixwebhosting, godaddy, bluehos t and others? If you ask me,i am prefer overseas web hosting such hostmonster, godaddy and ixwebhosting. It may slow. But if you focus global market,it should be nice.If your website or server is located at malaysia, outside world(such USA people,Canada,British and others) will be slow to access your website also.

Tell me and share your opinion at here.

Well this largely depends on your target audience. If your target audience is in Malaysia you can go for local hosting but if you have a global target audience, you should definitely go for US servers.

    HI gmchun,

    good topic to be discussed.

Yes. Agree. If you are targetting to international market, you may consider to host your website at the country where your main target originate from. Most people will chose US.

Another point that I would like to voice out is that, you do not really look for US provider if you are planning to host your website in server in US.

There are quite some provider in Malaysia which also offer hosting services to host your website in their server located in US (outside of Malaysia) while you can easyly reach them by contacting them using a Malaysia phone line or email at your timezone.

i hv experience with foreign server.

when we access, it hs slightly slow compare to local server.

for support wise, damm fcuking headache with them. May be different culture, different language we use, or they way(grama& sentenses) we explain the problem to them.

just like a chicken and a duck communication. I asking "A", provide all information regarding A, they reply "B

I need to ask "A" again without explain again, and their reply is need information on "A" which I already provided when I submit the ticket.

    well... headache or not?

    Wink

calvynlee.. haha... maybe you need to explain in details... like in proper english language instead of short cut? Do you use short cut?

Some people prefer local hosting company as they can find the person-in-charge easily. Some prefer US hosting company as they offer better.

Depends on the service you are looking. You will need to do more research before sign up a hosting package.

This would depend on your site visitors. As much as possible, your web server needs to be physically located near to them.
