    Exclamation Kampong language !?

    I hope everyone posting here can using more formal words instead of simple one, so we can easyly understand what are they talking about.
    example:
    mengapa = mgp
    quick = qck
    2 bulan = 2bln
    and more...

    because this is a profesional forum for people to post/share information or ask question here.
    these words make people using more time to guess what are they talking about...!
    this my opinion only,
    Thanks.

    yes we can. there are many english words that we can shorten for example :

    people = ppl
    nevermind = nvm
    by the way = btw
    for your information = fyi
    do it yourself = diy
    them = em
    although = altho

    and many more. reasons why? to save time and energy. the world is evolving fast. dont u think its much timelier and cost efficient (especially when u sms) to type : "by the way, for your information, i have sent you the copy for the second time"
    as.. "btw, fyi, i hv sent u d copy 4 d 2nd time"

    altho, i must admit that some shortforms can make no sense sometimes :P u just have to be smart as to how u shorten them 4 ppl to understand.

    just my 2 cents

    is best to write in full so that everyone can understand. Just like we have everyone all over the world in this forums, although mostly is Malaysian... some might not understand the short form for english/malay language...
    hehe......

    I never said shortform is bad thing, but we must know when and where to use it.

    for example,
    When we talking about gossip or entertainments, short form is acceptable. Because we only read and smile and forget it.

    But, when we want to share or looking for information or help, I think short form should be avoidable when it's possible.
    Because it's due to the information reliability. From the question posted, we could see and estimate it's a important question or not to reply it. And for the information posted, we also can see and jugde the information is credible or not.

    Please share your opinion here.

    I will advice the web administrator here,
    to aware of the simple word while communicate
    has to be avoided, there is no serious issue
    on the thing.. when you using SMS, short message
    simple, definitely the time usage are low diffrently
    while texting in a major story of 120 characters

    james c, please don't mention any supportive objection,
    if you don't understand the simple word, then you have to practice and learn...

    Hello James,

    I get what you mean, but I do not see how shortform can make a question/information/help any less credible/reliable.

    for example, if a person asks me what blogging is all about, and i reply :

    "well, fyi, blogging is like ur online personal journal, where u xpress urself in a space in d i'net called a website, 2 share ur thots & passions 4 d world 2 know. ofcoz, it's totally up 2 u 2 set the blog privacy setting 2 ur blog - whether u want ur blog 2 b private or free 2 b accessed by public"

    does this make my info/help to this person any less credible/reliable just because i use a few shortforms?

    of course, it is always best to type in full. i mean, thats why they type in full in newspapers anyway. but if u have to use shortforms, i dont see there's anything wrong that could make an information any less credible as long as u use shortforms which are easy for ppl to understand.

    it seems that our member james has entered the wrong
    thread by issuing kampong accent instead of simple words,

    kampung accent.
    ok doh bertaong kat Tranu ni, kalu dok reti baser Tranu,
    memang teruk do'oh ahh

    are you clear for the explanation ?
    there is no such reason in using simple short words..

    For english, I can read these short form and understand.
    But...
    Now, we look at example above from yardbird. Saya faham bahasa malaysia, but I still can't understand what it's mean...
    sorry about that, and saya faham 'memang teruk' sahaja...

    And maybe I need to learn about this

    The true is not everyone same like you, they create theirs short form method to save thiers time, but not readers.
    But who care, because most of them maybe you and me, come here to post and leave, and never come back again.

    Yes I also hate to read shortform writing as it is not pleasant to see. It happens in english and malay writing. But why this thread is named kampong language? I don't see any relevance to it.

    what i was thinking is james try to assumed
    that many of shortform word nowadays came from kampung language
    but it did not happen as he think, it could be our member james has something to do with his professional career job as writer or journalist or might be in pr manager..

    the value of communication is highly appreciated when the message has been delivered and achieved success
