    using simple words

    Simple words help us to express message clearly.
    Too many complex words are like hurdles in a race,
    slowing readers down. Replacing complex words with simpler
    words lets your readers concentrate on your content.

    Using simple and familiar words where possible
    doesn't insult your readers' intelligence but
    emphasizes clarity rather than formality.

    in my opinion..
    this thread title should not be shown in this forum
    as he will interrupting the language itself..
    was the definition clear ??

    i can understand what you are saying, but you are not quite right saying it is kampong language, it is actually a city language, predominantly used by teenagers. in fact, saying it is kampong language may hurt the feelings of the innocent kampong folks, who have absolutey nothing to do with this.

    but your ignorance on the subject and of kampong environment is perhaps forgiveable as you are probably a city dweller, and knows next to nothing about what is outside the city. however, your wording and lack of attention to correct details will certainly be read as a very unprofessional post in itself, in what is called a profesional forum. thus the intention to point out a valid irritating trend may have landed in a wrong padi field.

    let me explain.

    This most irrtating phenomena is not only in malay langauge, it is also in english and other languages.

    And most alarmingly, it is not confined to malaysia, it is a global thing, it is in *all* countries which carry sms. i saw in one forum where the mod blatantly refused to provide support answers until the poster stop using what he calls 'sms' language.

    it is hence called SMS language, because humans have adapted to SHORT messaging and therefore creates a new abbreviated langauge.

    fine, when inside the small phone 251 max characters, but VERY IRRITATING when you do it in forums, in text books, in letters, IN WHATEVER LANGAUGE.

    well, what we need to do just respect other people , use formal language when need's . that's the basic , really hard ? we can found many translate and dictionary online , anytime anywhere, still hard? better go back to school and study hard.

    I don't see why short forms are even related to Kampong language...

    this phenomena is not a kampung issue, the one posting this title is rather ignorant and a little biased on this subject.

    what is true however, is the fact that short form text is used by the younger generation and this is a world wide phenomena, arising from SMS technology.

    this short form, makes reading difficult, makes professional websites looks like childs play and makes the kids and people posting this kind of text look really stupid.

    it is a 'culture' thing. not a racial culture, a generation culture. it happens in almost all countries. my kids use it as well. all kids get sucked into this habit. it is the elder brother and sisters and parents generation that is left out.

    look at it this way. when you die and the kids take over the forum, all these short texts will be allowed and we can no longer understand all what is being said in the forum. but it don't matter by then because we are all already dead

    " pbly d lang wl be chged s well."

    admittedly, i use it too sometimes on the sms to shorten my text. but kids are very efficient in using them and has plenty to say. so they condense the text to such a high degree leaving you and me wondering what on earth is beign said, regardless of the language used.

    so a spell checker for the forum would be nice, where when there are many spelling mistakes made, the post may be rejected. this of course requires a new function to be added to the forum software. and it should cater for bahasa malaysia and english.

    but probably no one will bother.
