Thread: why must make 5 post ?

just wonder why must 5 post only can reply ? i hope can remove it, just 2 annoying 4 new member

the 5 posts helps to prevent spammers to spam their url here. I find it was not that annoying when i first join as a new member here seeking for help, if a new member has the heart to stay and seek for information in this forum i dont think it's an issue to them, but to a pure spammers or just those one time visitor hoping for some unique visitor to their site, yes is a big issue.

I guess that's the reason it's like that. I wrote some open-source MySQL UDFs recently, and wanted to let a couple of forums know about them. Because I was a new member, I couldn't post the links. I wrote a message saying how to find the article on my blog, and asked if a long-term member would post the link if they thought it was useful. Next day, members at both forums had posted my URLs.

The only other alternative, and I think you can see that on WMM, is to write spammy replies to topics you wouldn't otherwise comment on, until you can get your URL-posting rights. I guess it's all activity for the forum owner!

People want to post their URLs because it's a benefit to them - for indexing, ranking and visitors. You've got to expect forums to want something in return.

5 wasn't big number lah.

i dont think that this requirement is hard to fulfill.just reply some of the posts, in no time will reach 5 posts.

outlife11, you've already posted 6 times, so now no restriction on you.

I will prefer if the minimum number of post is increased to at least 10 post. This will stop spammers + spambots from spamming the boards.

5 post seriously is really small amount, see with my this reply already 1 post. :P

well 5 posts is not so big deal, some forums ask for 15 or even 50!!!so 5 is ok

there are forums out there asking for 20 posts before you can place a link, but it's understandable as the PR is somewhere around 6 or 7

i know yeh, its annoying, vbulletin thing, but optional

tottaly true on one slovenian forum you have to hav 100 posts before you can add avatar, links, images etc...
