Thread: Credit card without Paypal Account, Is it available for Malaysia?

Hi,


I developing a store site.

When testing using sandbox account, customer able to pay with credit card without Paypal account.

But when I test with merchant account, customer have to create Paypal account.

Here what have I test with merchant account.

- Paypal Account optional is turned on
- account type is Business and verified
- clear browser cookies, cache and restart the browser
- Standard checkout not Express checkout


Need help here....

Maybe because "Account Optional" does not work for Malaysians (Malaysians MUST have a Paypal account to pay)

If not mistaken, "PayPal account optional" works for USA and certain western countries. For south east Asian countries eg. Malaysia, they force you to sign up PayPal account, as one of the strategy to maximize user in these area. Good news is, they make it all in one page, make the process as streamline as possible.

yong and webshaper are right. This largely depends on what triggers it.

i believe PayPal will force you to sign up for an account (even if merchant using biz type account and the "PayPal Account Optional" is on - found under PayPal > Profile > Payment Receiving Preferences)

so it depends on
- countries of the customers
- ip block
- currency type
- the legislation involved.
- amount of the transaction

see the complexity? that's why we cannot find such information on their website.
