why hosting provider charge a minimum fee for DNS hosting?

    - they need server hardware to host the DNS service
    - they need a data center rack, bandwidth, other DC facilities to host the DNS service
    - they need a support team to manage the DNS server from time to time
    - they need to have support team helping their DNS hosting subscriber when they need any assistant
    - etc

I think is reasonable that they charge a minimum fee to ensure you get what you pay.

As far as I know only Asia Registry has a web-based DNS zone editor; so if you register a domain at Asia registry you get the DNS management

If anyone knows of any other registrar of .MY domains that has a DNS control panel please add to this list.

    www(dot)asiaregistry(dot)com

I refuse to spend additional funds - or give money to registrars that do not even have this basic service.

Hmm, my post count of zero doesn't allow me to post links. Do the administrators want me to create 4 random spam messages so that I can?

OK, it is not the job of the web hosting provider to host DNS - it is the job of the Domain registrar.

However, if you are a hosting provider that also does domain registrations then you should offer the service for free as part of that registration service.

Otherwise I will register my domain with another registrar, and nowadays ... registrars like Network Solutions and GoDaddy also offer web hosting

I don't think that's right. I don't know what the ratio of brain-dead hosting to expert hosting is, but I imagine a great deal of money made by hosting companies is from customers who don't care or don't know what their site's IP address is, or what name resolution really does. For that kind of business, it seems absolutely right to me that hosts control the name-to-host resolution.

I think if they do the domain name registration - true, i.e if a customer has no idea what's happening and register the domain as part of the web hosting package, then the hosting company should - but in their role as a domain registrar. (and provide free facilities to manage the domain name)

If they don;t register the domain name I wouldn't expect them to do DNS hosting as well - and they rightly would want to charge you for wanting them to give you DNS facilities

Basically you could get the DNS Zone hosting package for RM50. Alternatively you might consider to get it from Exabytes
